12.401Poison The Well
by Oliver Kube (12.08.2009) Aaah, the first sounds of "Exist underground": chunky, brutal, and wonderfully gooey, they creep out of your speakers... A bit later, Bradley Grace's bass, Brad Clifford' guitar, and the rest of the noisemakers step on it - and come up with more melodies, just to slam on the brakes again after a while. This opening song is an epitome of the dynamics these Post Hardcore heroes from Florida like to apply. Highlights on this album: crispy, catchy "Sparks it will rain" (spiced with harmonious interludes), the relentless double-bass juggernaut "Cinema", spheric "When you lose, I lose as well", and the almost Drone-like "Antartica inside me". Apart from the versatility regarding arrangements and the intense performance, it's the compact, yet transparent sound done by legendary producer Steve Evetts (The Cure, Hatebreed, Glassjaw, Sepultura, Dillinger Escape Plan etc.) which turns this CD into an impressive success.
