"The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars" LP by David Bowie
Article description
The 50th Anniversary pressing of 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars' was cut on a specially modified Neumann VMS80 lathe with completely refurbished electronics from the restored 192kHz masters of the original master tapes from Trident Studios, without any additional processing during the transfer. The half-speed cutting was done by John Webber at AIR Studios.
'Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars,' or simply 'Ziggy Stardust,' is the fifth studio album by the legendary British rock musician. The concept album was released in 1972 and tells the story of a promiscuous and drug-dependent rockstar whose life has been marked. Bowie tells the story between hard and glam rock, pop and art rock, in a total of eleven songs, including the single 'Starman' and the title song 'Ziggy Stardust'. The musician recorded the album with his producer Ken Scott at Trident Studios in London. Scott had previously produced 'Honky Dory' (1971). Bowie received musical support on 'Ziggy Stardust' from Mick Ronson (guitar, piano, background vocals, string arrangements), Trevor Bolder (bass), Mick Woodmansey (drums), Rick Wakeman (keyboard), and Dana Gillespie (vocals in the song 'It Ain't Easy'). In the UK, the album reached number five on the album charts.
