"The dissent of man" CD by Bad Religion
Article description
Versatile and mature: The Californian punk rock legend celebrates their 30th anniversary.
30 years of punk rock, 15 albums, two words, one band: Bad Religion. Three years after their last album "New Maps Of Hell" (50.000 sold records in Europe) the band based around singer Greg Graffin are impressively and musically very diverse are back with a new album. The span reaches from flaming punk rock songs like the opener "The Day That The Earth Stalled" or "Meeting Of The Minds" to classic rock influenced tracks like "Cyanide" and "Turn Your Back On Me". "The Dissent On Man" is not only a snapshot of the past years, but a testimony of a maturity in respect to song writing. The 15 songs once again were written by guitar player Brett Gurewitz, many of them are already familiar to fans over here from the 2010 tour on occasion of the 30 year band anniversary. The album was produced by Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool).

by Peter Kupfer (20.09.2010) "The dissent of man" is Bad Religionβs first studio album since 2007βs "New maps of hell", and includes the new song βResist-stanceβ, which originally appeared on the live album "30 years live". It also marks the first time since their formation in 1979 that a Bad Religion line-up had not changed in four consecutive studio recordings. They found their inner peace? Maybe! But the new record demonstrates in a best way their continued interest in melodies. Midtempo Punk at its best and no welcome for criticism because of songs like βThe devil in stitchesβ and βMeeting of the mindsβ. Melodic punk rock songs with catchy riffs and strong vocals, mostly in several parts in traditional Bad Religion style are their strengths and passion which, even in times of Metalcore and the rediscovery of Rock 'n' Roll don't seem moth-eaten. For sure they grew up and became older, but nevertheless they are gorgeous and they seem young as years ago. The motto is: they don't stop playing because they are old, they grow old because they stop playing. We look forward to the next 30 years!
