The legendary Rock guitarist Steve Hackett will release his new studio Album 'The Circus And The Nightwhale' on February 16, 2024, via InsideOut Music. The 12 tracks of 'The Circus And The Nightwhale' are a rite-of-passage concept Album, centered around a young character named Travla. For the musician, the 12 tracks have an autobiographical aspect, saying about his 30th solo Album: 'I love this Album. It says the things I've wanted to say for a long time.'
Recorded between the 2022 and 2023 tours at Siren Studio in the UK - with guest contributions from Sweden, Austria, the USA, Azerbaijan, and Denmark - the lineup of 'The Circus And The Nightwhale' includes Steve on electric and acoustic guitars, 12-string guitar, mandolin, harmonica, percussion, bass, and vocals, alongside some familiar faces. Roger King (keyboards, progming, and orchestral arrangements), Rob Townsend (saxophone), Jonas Reingold (bass), Nad Sylvan (vocals), Craig Blundell (drums), and Amanda Lehmann (vocals). Nick D'Virgilio and Hugo Degenhardt return as guest drummers, the outstanding sound engineer Benedict Fenner is heard on keyboards, and Malik Mansurov is back on guitar. And finally, Steve's brother John Hackett is heard on flute again.
Steve sums up 'The Circus And The Nightwhale' as follows: 'It's a beautiful journey that starts dirty, gritty, and smoky, and then becomes heavenly and divine. How can you resist?'
