by Andreas Reissnauer (22.10.2008) No doubt about it, for the last two or three years Trivium have been (apart from Bullet For My Valentine) the epitomes and winners concerning modern, rough, but yet melodious stuff. The Brits polarise - so do Trivium. But now, Matt Heafy and his boys prove, and impressively so, that Trivium are no flash in the pan or Metallica clones. "Shogun" is their fourth album, and not only the most mature, but also the longest. The songs are longer, packed with details and various vibes, some of them are ultra-melodic, and others real rough and tough. Matt Heavy adapts his voice to the respective flow - his clean voice is as convincing as his well-known shouts which werenβt featured on "The crusade". "Shogun" is truly an epic opus - due to its length, youβll need some time to savour all details and melodies in full.
