by Matthias Mineur (October 2005) For a band like Gamma Ray it has not really become easier in the past ten years. The front of Melodic Rock formations has impressively improved; hardly any week in which there is not a great album of this genre being released on any label. That means for Kai Hansen, Henjo Richter, Daniel Zimmermann and Dirk SchlΓ€chter to be good, too and show no weakness. And with "Majestic", the Hamburg based troop succeed. Anthemnic as they haven't been in years, variable and full of playfulness, Gamma Ray present an album that sets forth the quality of early classics, such as "Land of the free", and that in terms of speed is not orientating in the dizziness-causing last records. Of course, also on "Majestic" you'll find no slow-paced Metal, either but the balance between fast rhythmns and groovy parts is correct and can best be enjoyed in high volume. And that's what the records of this band are made for, aren't they? (Matthias Mineur - October 2005)
