Few bands in the history of the Heavy Metal underground have a remarkable, unlikely, or uplifting story like that of Cirith Ungol. Founded in Ventura, California in the early 1970s, Cirith Ungol created a sound that the world had never heard before.
Cirith Ungol wasted no time riding the wave they ignited with their 2020 studio comeback, Forever Black, and immediately began writing songs for Dark Parade after its release. Then, like everyone else, Cirith Ungol was paralyzed by the global pandemic and struggled through illness, isolation, grief, and depression in their quest to create dark, vibrant art. And like the greatest warriors, they persevered and worked on one song after another - distractions aside. The first piece they composed was the overwhelming 'Relentless,' which strengthened their confidence and clear vision. The rest of the album naturally came together, fueled by personal misery and the tragedy of the worldwide collapse.
