by Andreas Reissnauer (01/01) Debut of Carnivore in my opinion is a classic that even today would still get the highest number of points of any valuation scale. There might be some of you who do not know yet that Carnivore was the first band that a certain Peter Steele could stir some sensation. And even if Carnivore are acting bit rawer and less polished, there are some elements of Type O Negative in the music, like the clearly defined bass sound and some rare quieter passages had already been included on "Carnivore". However, on the rest of the c.d., the axe called Blood Core is circling, Metal elements included. On this album, each (!) song is song is a hammer, tracks like "Male supremacy" (hell yeah!), "Armageddon", "Legion of doom", "God is dead" and the closing, post-nuclear epic "World wars III & IV" can hardly be topped in intensity and unleashed heaviness in the real sense. Anyone who doens't call this album his own, yet, has to order it NOW, especially because the new version also includes the demo-versions of the "Retaliation" songs "U.S.A. for U.S.A.", "S.M.D." and "Sex and violence".
