by Marcel Anders (null) The title could also come from a Gwar-album, but Jimmy Eat World from Phoenix/Arizona are just too good for that. A juvenile quartet, active since the early 90s and among the most active and consistent bands from the U.S. now releasing their fourth album. And "Bleed American" impressively proves why this band has been so popular (Top 20 in the German charts, headliner at the Rheinkultur festival): they just have the right feeling for big hymns, create earwigs in a row and lead the stagnating Alternative Rock onto new levels. Away from the old structures and simple lyrics, off for new freshness and explosive little catchy rock songs, even better than Weezer could be capable of. "The Middle", "Sweetness" or "Cautioners" is the stuff College-Rock-dreams are made of. Yet, lone highlight of the album is the title track - a cynical payoff with life in the U.S. consisting of fast food, tv and Prozac. More, please!
