Nirvana
Sorry, we couldn't find any matches for your search
Nirvana came into the world of music as the pioneers of grunge. They have every reason to be classed as one of the most influential bands of the 90s. The guys from Nirvana were, and still are, the founders of grunge. This style of music has its roots in Seattle and bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and of course Nirvana are without doubt the front runners in this genre. The mix of punk rock and heavy metal is really in your face and sure to get you rocking – a truly amazing genre of music.
Back in the day, Nirvana were the leaders of the pack heading in a whole new direction. After the suicide of lead singer Kurt Cobain, he came to be recognised as the tragic figure behind the grunge movement. Grunge was at risk of dying out after Cobain or rather fading into classic rock, but even years after their break-up, Nirvana’s music still gets everyone of all ages moving.
Albums like ‘Nevermind’, ‘Bleach’ and ‘In Utero’ are timeless and incredibly fascinating. There’s not one song that has dated or become insignificant, which you quickly realise when you put on one of their discs. Songs like ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, ‘Come As You Are’, ‘Heart Shaped Box’, ‘In Bloom’, ‘Lithium’ or ‘Polly’ are absolute classics. Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselić and Dave Grohl were, and still are, true music legends.
Nirvana – The spirit lives on
Quite often misunderstood, under too much pressure and too quick to reach meteoric fame, Nirvana still managed to release numerous pioneering albums. Their spirit lives on not only through T-shirts and posters, but also their discography. Those who want to learn more about the life of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana need to get their hands on the book ‘Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana’ by Michael Azerrad.
If you want to step back to the glory days, then you need to get hold of the album Nirvana Unplugged in New York. This album couldn’t be any more emotional. Nirvana has far from faded away and drummer Dave Grohl has since become one of the biggest rock stars of our time. He’s had incredible success with his band Foo Fighters, even after starting out with Nirvana. We love Nirvana and hopefully the legends will live on forever.
