Motörhead's music is characterised by style elements from heavy metal, punk, hard rock and blues rock. What was particularly noticeable was that the electric bass played a major role in Motörhead and replaced the rhythm guitar. Compared to other bands (e.g. AC / DC) Motörhead were significantly more bass-heavy. They were seen as the link between heavy metal and punk.

After 40 years at the top, The band broke up in December 2015 after the death of Lemmy Kilmister. They played their last live concert on December 11, 2015 in Berlin.
